Prolonging Vase Life of Gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.) var. Arka Amar with Various Preservative Solutions

Background: Arka Amar is a most popular variety of gladiolus which used as cut flower and flowers are highly perishable materials pregnable to large post-harvest losses. There an immense losses in value seen all along the marketing channels it can be up 40-50%. So, experiment was carried out find best combination preservative solutions enhance vase life Gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.) var. Amar. Methods: In this laboratory study during March 2022 April 2022, different were analyzed maximum longevity spikes. The laid C.R.D. with nine combinations sucrose, Al2 (SO4)3, AgNO3 citric acid including control (distilled water). Result: revealed that treatment T9 (Sucrose 2% + 50ppm 100 ppm) increased percentage water uptake both weight volume basis, minimize days taken for opening 1st floret (4.83 days), increase length (7.41 cm) diameter (13 floret, florets/spike (96.92%), maximize (22 days) flowering duration spike (14.66 days). Visual scoring on appearance (8.71) freshness (8.93) also found significant above combination.
